I hold a CNRS Chaire de Professeur Junior (CPJ) at IPhT, and I am interested in statistical physics, computational biology, and machine learning.

My work sits at the interface between the statistical physics of learning and computational biology. I develop generative and representation-learning models, such as Restricted Boltzmann Machines and energy-based models, try to understand their behaviour with tools from statistical physics, and use them to analyse and design biological sequences (proteins, RNA, antibodies), often in close collaboration with experimental groups.

I lead a group at IPhT and regularly have open positions for interns, PhD students and postdocs. I also teach statistical physics and machine learning at École Polytechnique and in Paris-area master programs.

Service. Co-organizer (with S. Cocco and M. Weigt) of the Cargèse Summer School on Molecular Evolution and Design (2025) and the Biological Sequence Modelling conference (Cargèse, 2023).
